I think no matter where you go, beach towns all have basically the same vibe, especially in the shoulder seasons. A bar advertising live music has nobody booked. Another one, beach themed in its decor, has maybe 70 tables, 67 of which are open. A few spots are open, but most have closed for the day, not waiting for an evening crowd to materialize. People are out walking, enjoying the weather, – a mix of locals and those few whose calendars somehow put them here at the wrong time. All such towns in such seasons give off the vibe that they peaked in the 1950s, but somehow, every summer, they roar back to life, disproving the lie of the off-season, only to shrink back when the calendar and the weather give notice that it’s time to go dormant again, for a while.
